Research Interests

My research interests include Rare Plants, Biodiversity, and Pollination Ecology. My doctoral research is focused on piedmont prairies in North Carolina and the heliophytic species associated with this plant community.

Specifically I will be investigating management practices in Piedmont prairies and their impact on biodiversity as well as the pollination ecology of smooth purple coneflower (Echinacea laevigata), a federally-listed endangered species.

My primary research project is funded by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture in partnership with NC State University Enrichment Grant and is focused on the impact of various forest management practices in different forest-cover types adjacent to Picture Creek Diabase Barrens, a piedmont prairie in Butner, NC.
